“City Digital Governance Innovation Class” Launched

On the afternoon of March 14, the opening ceremony of the City Digital Governance Innovation Class of Zhejiang University City College was held. As China’s first innovation class dedicated to the training of digital governance talents, it selects a total of 30 students from more than 3,000 sophomores in various majors in ZUCC every year based on the principles of voluntary registration, open competition, and selective admission. These 30 students will experience intensive learning and practice which lasted for two and a half years while guaranteeing to complete their professional study. This innovation class integrates information technology, law, public management and other disciplines, and aims to cultivate innovative, compound and application-oriented undergraduates with City Brain-powered governance concepts, who will be familiar with government management processes and grassroots social governance needs, and able to use City Brain to promote governance capabilities.

Wang Jian, Hangzhou City Brain Technology Chief Architect, Cloud Computing Technology Expert, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Aliyun Founder and Chairman of the Alibaba Group Technical Committee, served as a lecturer and gave a wonderful first lesson with the title of City Brain, Hangzhou’s Gift to Cities Worldwide to the students in the innovation class.

Hong Qinghua, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZUCC, introduced the past and present situations of City Brain to the students in his capacity as a witness and builder of the construction of the Hangzhou City Brain, and took the “Qin Qing Online” digital platform as an example to explain the government service process reengineering with the goal of “one-click direct access” supported by the rapid development of digitalization.
