On the morning of September 6, the opening ceremony of the 2019 undergraduate freshmen of Zhejiang University City College kicked off in the Gymnasium. More than 2,800 freshmen swayed the Five-Starred Red Flag in their hands, forming a red heat wave on the scene. The year 2019 is a special year, which is not only the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, but also the 20th anniversary of the establishment of Zhejiang University City College.
Zheng Limin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Hangzhou Education Bureau, and Professor Alister Jones, Senior Executive Vice President of the University of Waikato, attended the opening ceremony on invitation. Members of the college leadership team: Wei Wei, Wu Jian, Si Rongxi, Zhu Yongping, Zhao Yang, Chen Fengqiu, Li Lei and other teachers witnessed this unforgettable moment together. On behalf of all the teachers and students of ZUCC, President Wei Wei expressed his warmest congratulations and welcome to the freshmen and his heartfelt thanks to their parents and teachers who cultivated them. Subsequently, ten outstanding freshmen were awarded their first honor in college - Wei Shaoxiang’s New Elite Scholarship. ZUCC President Wei Wei, Party Secretary Wu Jian awarded the certificate of honor to them and took a group photo with them.
On the occasion, the ceremony of 2019 Freshmen Honor Pledge was held. All the freshmen solemnly swore to: adhere to the school motto of “seeking innovation”, obey the school rules and regulations, strictly abide by the Code of Conduct, be honest, reliable, upright and disciplined, develop good style of study and become the endorsement of ZUCC. At the end of the ceremony, the whole audience sang “Me and My Motherland” together. Students stood up and waved the Five-starred Red Flags in their hands, and the national flag and the college flag fluttered in the wind. The opening ceremony ended in a ceaseless applause.
